*The laconic Sheet* (Huda Sarwar Maqbool)

Like just when we realize our sheets are not large anymore

The desire to stretch legs advances furthermore,

Same was when I saw your sky is out of my wings’ reach

Realizing how much in love I was with you ever since,

And just like we keep struggling to cover in sheets

I might in oblivion keep flapping my wings nevertheless,

I now have your voice reminisce in my battered heart

To let the residing agonies be filled with shattered love,

I have seen life break on so many different levels

For I’m here to say ‘abandon all hope, ye who enter here’

Alas! that is all what I have of myself for now,

Where the wings may rise to fury or burn to death.
